Elliott Bay Water Taxi
A service of the new King County Ferry District

April 27 thru Oct. 31, 2008

Water Taxi service across Seattleā€™s Elliott Bay operates seven days a week, between Pier 55 at the foot of Spring Street on the downtown Seattle waterfront and Seacrest dock in West Seattle. The crossing time between Pier 55 and Seacrest is approximately 12 minutes.

  • Metro tickets are treated as cash. When using Metro tickets, please use $3 worth.
  • Bicycles are welcome, as space permits, at no additional fare.
  • Transfers will be issued on the Water Taxi.

Free Land Shuttle (DART Route 773)

This FREE shuttle van operates between the Admiral District, Alki Point and the West Seattle Junction. It provides DART service and operates as follows:

  • The land shuttle's runs 7 days a week in accordance with the daily schedule (see links below):
  • Land Shuttle map
  • The shuttle serves all posted bus stops along the fixed route portion of the service.
  • The shuttle does NOT run extended hours for Mariners game day sailings.
  • In addition, on weekdays customers may call in advance to request off-route trips within the designated DART zone adjacent to the West Seattle Junction. Customers can call 1-866-261-3278, TTY users call 1-800-246-1646, for trip reservations.
    • The DART area lies between 49th Ave SW on the west, Fauntleroy Way on the East, SW Alaska St on the north, and Fauntleroy Way on the south as far as the north end of Lincoln Park.
  • The service is provided by the DART contractor, Hopelink [external link], using two DART transit vans (18-passenger, lift-equipped).

Mariners Game Day Sailings

The Water Taxi provides extended service for weekday evening Mariner games. Fans can ride the Water Taxi back to West Seattle after the game! The Water Taxi operates a "Friday" schedule after weekday Mariner home games.

For 7:00 p.m. Mariners games on weekdays and Saturdays, the Water Taxi will provide a final trip leaving Pier 55 at 10:45 p.m. The DART Land Shuttle does NOT run extended hours for this event.

So come cheer the Mariners and sail home after the game!

Other Transit Connections

Service to Seacrest Park is provided by Metro Route 37 headed toward downtown Seattle on weekday mornings and returning on weekday afternoons. It serves the West Seattle Junction, Beach Drive and Harbor and Alki Avenues. Route 37 operates limited service on Saturday, and does not operate on Sunday or holidays.

Midday on weekdays, Metro Route 53 provides service every 60 minutes along Alki and Harbor Avenues.

In Downtown Seattle, Metro bus service is provided by Route 99 (ride for free) operating along Alaskan Way and by many bus routes along 1st, 2nd and 3rd Avenues and other downtown streets.

Please pay a regular fare on Routes 37, 53 and all other regular Metro service.

On the following holidays, the Elliott Bay Water Taxi operates its Saturday schedule and the Land Shuttle operates its Saturday Schedule:

Adverse Weather Information

During periods of adverse weather, high winds or rough water on Elliott Bay, the Water Taxi may suspend operations until conditions improve. Please be aware of weather conditions when planning your ride on the Water Taxi. Your understanding is appreciated.
