6/21/2007 Isleta Boulevard Phase II Dedication Scheduled
Bernalillo County Commissioner Teresa L. Cordova and members of the South Valley Community will celebrate the completion of the Isleta Boulevard Phase II Reconstruction Project this Friday, June 22, 2007 at 11:00 am.
“Working with the neighborhood and business community, we were able to preserve the character of Isleta Boulevard and, at the same time, improve the flow of traffic and install a variety of new features,” says Commissioner Cordova. “Isleta Boulevard is part of the historic El Camino Rael and I am very proud to be a part of the completion of Phase II, representing a major infrastructure improvement in the South Valley.”
The Phase II project included improvements on Isleta Boulevard from Arenal Road, SW to Rio Bravo Boulevard, SW. The length of the Isleta portion of the project is approximately 1.8 miles. The improvements include drainage facilities, roadway expansion at key intersections, lighting, traffic control signals, curb and gutter, bike lanes, permanent signing and striping, landscaping, streetscape enhancements and miscellaneous improvements. Five storm drainage and water quality detention ponds were constructed for the benefit of the Isleta corridor and to relieve regional flooding in portions of the project area.
Funding for the project was approximately $24.7 million dollars with appropriations from Bernalillo County Bond Funds, the Federal Housing Administration, Legislative funds, AMAFCA and the Albuquerque/Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority.
