Northwest Transit Center Overflow Parking Closed for 3 Days

Dirt lot will be paved September 10 through September 14

Albuquerque - ABQ RIDE officials announced today the Northwest Transit Center’s overflow parking lot will be closed for paving from September 10 through September 14. The transit center, at the northwest corner of Ellison and Coors By-Pass, has been filled to capacity since its opening day on September 2.

The overflow lot is between the main transit facility and the fire station and has room for approximately 140 cars. The surfacing will make parking more convenient and less subject to the weather. During this brief construction closure, passengers of the #96 commuter route, the #155 Coors route and the #790 Blue Line are encouraged to temporarily use Cottonwood Mall for parking. The buses will not enter the mall but will pick up passengers at the stop on 7 Bar Loop.

“We apologize for any inconvenience the closure will cause,” said ABQ RIDE Director Greg Payne. “But we are thrilled at the response and only want to make the Northwest Transit Center better for our riders.”

The overflow lot will be re-opened on Monday morning, September 15, 2008.
