WILLIAM T. NEARY TO SERVE AS U.S. TRUSTEE
IN REGION 17 FOR INTERIM PERIOD
WASHINGTON, D.C.William T. Neary, United
States Trustee for the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas
(Region 6), will also serve as United States Trustee for the
Northern and Eastern Districts of California and the District
of Nevada (Region 17) for an interim period effective July
2, 2002, it was announced today by Lawrence Friedman, Director
of the Executive Office for United States Trustees. Neary
will replace Linda Ekstrom Stanley, who has served as U.S.
Trustee for Region 17 since June 1994.
Since 1986, Neary has been the U.S. Trustee
for Region 6, which has offices in Dallas and Tyler. He has
also served for interim periods as U.S. Trustee for Region
14 (the District of Arizona), Region 16 (the Central District
of California), and Region 19 (the Districts of Colorado,
Wyoming, and Utah). He received his law degree in 1982 from
Southern Methodist University in Dallas, and his undergraduate
degree in 1979 from Vanderbilt University in Nashville.
The U.S. Trustee Program is a component of the
Justice Department that protects the integrity of the bankruptcy
system by overseeing case administration and litigating to
enforce the bankruptcy laws. Region 17 is headquartered in
San Francisco, with additional offices in Fresno, Oakland,
Sacramento, San Jose, Las Vegas, and Reno.
