Cactus Playa Lake

City: Cactus | Region: Panhandle Plains

This land was deeded to Cactus by Phillips Petroleum Company in 1999 and is used as a bird refuge. The utility lake is a resort for over 80 common species of birds and numerous uncommon birds. At times you can see birds like the bald & golden eagle, falcon, cranes, cactus wren, and kittiwake. The lake is open year-round, and is located on FM 281, approximately two miles southeast of Cactus. No admission fee.
