Once the largest prisoner of war compound used for Union troops
west of the Mississippi during the Civil War, now the site includes
a public park managed by the Smith County Historical Society.
Features kiosk with extensive graphics detailing the history of the
camp, a walking trail and interpretive signage, a reconstruction of
a POW cabin, and picnic facilities. At U.S. 271 and Loop 323. No
admission fee.
