Advisory 97-09

MEDICAL BILL INFORMATION FROM CARRIERS TO THE COMMISSION

Bills which contain payment exception code "D" (duplicate charge) for procedures that have been previously paid or denied shall be submitted to the Commission and the health care provider only once. Carriers are not required to submit subsequent duplicate medical bill information.

The billing information submitted by the carrier is essential to the Commission's efforts in developing and implementing an efficient workers' compensation system that benefits injured employees, employers, carriers, and health care providers alike.
