Opened in 1929; closed in 1974; reopened in 1989 as a performing arts center, the Majestic is said to be one of the finest "atmos-pheric" theaters ever built. Completely restored, and entered on the National Register of Historic Places, the theater combines Baroque, Spanish Mission, and other motifs from Greek and Roman traditions to create a fantasy environment.
