An Update in Managing Diabetes in Texas: Getting to Target

The Texas Diabetes Council and the Texas Chapter of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists present this clinical update for endocrinologists, primary care physicians, and other health care professionals interested in diabetes management.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through joint sponsorship of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) and the Texas Chapter of AACE. Meeting the Standards
A Comprehensive Review for Diabetes Educators

Texas Diabetes Institute, San Antonio Texas
September 12-14, 2007

The Comprehensive Review Course is an intense two and a half day overview for the healthcare professional who is involved in diabetes education. This course will give the participant updated knowledge in the art and science of diabetes education and self-management training preparation for the Diabetes Educator Certification Exam. This course will enhance one’s analytical skills, build confidence in one’s ability as a diabetes educator and may help identify areas needing additional study. Additionally, this program will provide skills, knowledge and continuing education credit for any healthcare professional who cares for individuals with diabetes.

Accreditation
University Health System is approved as a provider of continuing education in nursing by the Texas Nurses Association, which is accredited as an approver of continuing education in nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. This approval meets Type 1 Criteria for contact hours for relicensure as established by the Board of Nurse Examiners for The State of Texas.

Type 2 Diabetes: Prevention • Intervention • Outcomes

This half day interaction provides an intensive and practical approach to the treatment of the growing epidemic of Type 2 diabetes cases.

2007 Southwest Diabetes Symposium

November 2 & 3, 2007

This course is offered to physicians and allied health professionals who are interested in the most recent advances concerning the pathogenesis and treatment of diabetes mellitus and its related microvascular and macrovascular complications. This day-and-a-half interaction provides an intensive, practical, multidisciplinary approach to the treatment of hyperglycemia, dyslipidemia, hypertension, clinical nephropathy, retinopathy, autonomic neuropathy and obesity. Speakers will present a rational therapeutic approach based upon sound pathophysiologic principles. All treatment guidelines will be based on the standards of care for diabetic patients, as published by the American Diabetes Association.
