Adobe Acrobat Reader

Required to view material encoded as Portable Document Format (PDF). PDF is a universal file format that preserves the look and layout of a printed document. These files are accessible through a free viewer published by Adobe. This file type is used if you want to print a copy of the document. PDF files cannot generally be edited electronically.
Free, for Windows, Macintosh, and several other operating systems.

Open Office

Free and open source office productivity suite compatible with all major file formats. Works under Windows, Macintosh, Unix, and Linux operating systems.
Can be used to view material encoded in Microsoft Word doc format (DOC).
Can be used to view material encoded in Microsoft Excel format (XLS).
Can be used to view material encoded in Microsoft PowerPoint format (PPT).
Can be used to view material encoded in Open Office format (SXW).

Video/Audio

A media player is required to access audio and/or video files, such as .rm, .ram, .wma, .wmv, .mov, MP3 and others. To see if you have a media player installed on your computer, do this test:

Open a sample Windows Media Audio file.
Open a sample MP3 file.

iTunes

iTunes is available as a free download for Mac OS X, Windows XP, and Windows 2000 from Apple's website.
iTunes plays digital music, music videos, television shows, iPod games, audiobooks, various podcasts, and feature length films.

Winamp

Winamp Player supports over 50 different types of audio/video formats, including .m3u, podcasts and online radio.

Real Player

RealOne Player is required to view material encoded as RealAudio and RealVideo.
