Program for Amplification for Children of Texas

The Program for Amplification for Children of Texas (PACT) serves Texas children from birth through 20 years of age who have hearing loss that causes a problem in school.

PACT provides diagnostic and remedial services needed by children with hearing loss who are Medicaid eligible. Services are for children who have a hearing loss that is permanent.

Treatment for conductive hearing loss caused by middle ear problems is NOT covered by this program.

PACT has contracts with facilities throughout the state to provide these SERVICES:

  • Evaluation by an audiologist
  • Evaluation by an otologist
  • Hearing aid evaluation
  • Earmold(s) and hearing aid(s)
  • Hearing aid counseling with child and family
  • Follow-up checks of the hearing aid
  • Hearing aid repair
  • Earmold replacement

Hearing aids may be replaced when the current aids are no longer appropriate or are 5 years old.

PACT PROVIDES ABOUT 3500 HEARING AIDS A YEAR FOR TEXAS CHILDREN.

Call 1-800-252-8023 for referral to a PACT Provider or call your local school district for referral to the Regional Day School Program for the Deaf.
