On-line Education Opportunity: Controlling Pertussis in Texas

The Immunization Division, Texas Department of Health is pleased to announce an on-line pertussis educational opportunity. This is an independent study activity called "Controlling Pertussis in Texas". This activity is located at the following site: http://completecast.com/pertussis/

The course objectives focus on four areas:

  • Disease trends in Texas
  • Clinical diagnosis and treatment,
  • Confirming the diagnosis
  • Vaccines

This course has been awarded continuing education hours for the following for the cost of $10.00.

  • CME: The Texas Department of Health designates this educational activity for a maximum of 2.5 Category 1 credits toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity. The Texas Department of Health is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians

  • CNE: The TDH Public Health Nursing Continuing Education Service is accredited as a provider of continuing education in nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. A maximum of 2.5 continuing nursing education contact hours has been awarded by the TDH PHW PHN CE service. Each nurse should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.

The participants will receive a printable certificate of completion immediately after completing the course evaluation. We encourage everyone involved with immunizations to visit the website.
