Composition of the 2007-2008 Influenza Vaccine

Both the trivalent inactivated influenza vaccine (TIV) and the live, attenuated influenza vaccine (LAIV) for the 2007-2008 season will include A/Solomon Islands/3/2006 (H1N1)-like (new for this season), A/Wisconsin/67/2005 (H3N2)-like, and B/Malaysia/2506/2004-like viruses. Global laboratory surveillance for influenza viruses is the basis for changing one or more of the vaccine strains each year. For the 2007-2008 vaccine, the only change was to the H1N1 strain (compared to the composition of the 2006-2007 vaccine).
