Board Membership

Members of the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners are appointed by the Governor of Texas to serve 6-year terms or at the will of the governor. Terms of service generally begin on February 1st of odd number years. There are 2 members licensed at each of the 3 levels of licensure (LBSW, LMSW, LCCSW) totaling 6 members and 3 Public Members. Public members may not be licensed under this act or have an interest in the practice of social work other than as a consumer. The Senate Committee on Nominations must confirm members.
