Welcome to the home page of the DSHS program that registers and regulates perfusionists in Texas. This website contains information about perfusionists including registration requirements, how to file a complaint, how to contact our office, and more.

The law which authorizes the licensure and regulation of perfusionists, Texas Occupations Code Chapter 603, was amended in the 79th Regular Session of the Texas Legislature (2005) by Senate Bill 403. This Sunset legislation, which abolished the Texas Board of Examiners of Perfusionists, established a five member advisory committee. The commissioner of State Health Services will appoint the members of the new advisory committee as provided by section 603.051, Occupations Code. The professional Licensing and Certification Unit is currently accepting applications to serve on the new advisory committee. Application packets have been mailed out for membership to the Perfusionist Advisory Committee. You may also download a copy of the application by clicking on the right hand side link, "Application/Forms". Interested persons must complete the application for committee appointment. Completed applications, including two letters of recommendation, should be mailed to department address, located on the right hand side titled "Contact Us".

The advisory committee will consist of two Perfusionists members who have been licensed for at least three years before the date of appointment, one physician member licensed by the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners who is certified by that board in cardiovascular surgery, and two members who represent the public. Members of the committee will serve staggered six-year terms.
