Effective March 1, 2004, the Medical Transportation Program (MTP) transferred
from the Texas Department of Health to TxDOT.
To request non-emergency medical transportation services, users must call the
toll-free number, 1-877-MED-TRIP (1-877-633-8747).
Mission
To provide eligible customers high-quality, non-emergency transportation
services to authorized medical and dental care. Service delivery is safe,
prompt, and cost-effective and takes into account the customer's health-care
needs. Staff and contractors are courteous, professional, and knowledgeable.

When categorically eligible Medicaid
recipients have no other means of
transportation to access a Medicaid-covered
service, MTP will arrange a cost-effective
mode of transportation to a reasonably close
health-care provider.
