Reporting Tuberculosis in Texas
Several Texas laws (Texas Health and Safety Code, Chapters 81 and 89 ) require specific information regarding notifiable conditions be provided to the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS).
Health care providers, hospitals, laboratories, schools, and others are required to report patients who are suspected of having a notifiable condition (Texas Adminimistrative Code Title 25, Part 1, Chapter 97 ).
Report a case of tuberculosis disease within one working day and an occurance of latent tuberculosis infection within one week to the local health authority.
