Partnership for Drug-Free TexasThe Department of State Health Services supervises and funds the Partnership for a Drug-Free Texas. The Texas Partnership is an arm of the Partnership for a Drug-Free America, a private, non-profit coalition of professionals from the communications industry. DSHS’ involvement and funding make the Texas Partnership unique. DSHS has used the Partnership for a Drug-Free Texas to generate millions of dollars in advertising and media exposure to encourage Texas youths to make wise choices about alcohol and other drugs. The Texas Partnership reviews public service announcements provided by the national organization, adds the state logo and hot line number and distributes the ads to more than 70 television stations, 1,300 print publications and 600 radio stations around the state. The Texas Partnership also generates creative work tailored to address concerns identified by DSHS. The Partnership has designed book covers and posters that were distributed to Texas students, set up kiosks with anti-drug information in malls and developed a billboard campaign targeting marijuana use.
