December 4, 2007Palacios, TexasAngler Education Instructor Course — This free workshop is open to anyone 17 or older interested in becoming a Volunteer Angler Education Instructor to teach the basics of fishing in their communities. The program provides the curriculum, equipment, materials and support to help adult volunteers successfully introduce youth and their families to fishing. Teachers receive SBEC credit. Wear comfortable clothing for outdoor activities and bring a snack and/or drink. Held at the Texas State Marine Education Center, 102 Marine Center Dr. Accessible for the mobility impaired. 9 a.m.-2 p.m.; preregistration required. December 8, 2007Deer Park, TexasAdvanced Fishing Class — The class will provide the opportunity for families to spend time together in the outdoors while learning advanced fishing skills through hands-on instruction. Designed as an intermediate corollary to the Basic Fishing Class, this clinic will equip adults and children (over the age of 6) with a more detailed understanding of fishing methods and aquatic habitat. Completion of the Basic Fishing Class is not required, but encouraged. This program, presented by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, is offered through the City of Deer Park.
