Welcome to Volunteer DFPS
Volunteers play an important role in helping DFPS accomplish its mission to protect the unprotected.
In 2004, more than 3,600 groups and individuals contributed almost 170,000 hours of their time to help DFPS workers deliver important services to our clients.
Volunteers help DFPS clients in so many ways. Click on any of the subjects below to learn more.

You can volunteer to help children (Child Protective Services, or CPS), aged or disabled adults (Adult Protective Services, or APS), or in support of quality child care in Texas (Child Care Licensing, or CCL). Volunteers work in offices, with caseworkers, directly with clients, or on community boards or groups, helping clients with clothing and supplies, life skills, transport, companionship, and so much more.

VolunteerDFPS has a priority need for Office Assistant volunteers. Caseworkers have record-high caseloads, and with each case comes support tasks that must be done: from filing, making appointments, and transporting clients to finding services and reception duties, office assistant volunteers help caseworkers spend more time on their clients and less on their paperwork....

Groups and individuals are making a difference all over Texas. In Tarrant County, Carol Berry is making a difference by helping the local Child Protective Services office, playing a vital role in helping DFPS fulfill its mission to "Protect the Unprotected." And in El Paso, Bob Muzzy is one of the Adult Protective Services volunteers working the front lines delivering heaters and blankets for the Extreme Weather Task Force.
