Office of General Counsel

Our Office of General Counsel provides legal advice to the department and facilitates proposed legislation and proposed department rule revisions. The office also acts as the designated agent for service for nonresident motorists involved in motor vehicle accidents on public roads and as the agent for the Texas Transportation Commission and TxDOT for all lawsuits against the department.
