DFPS Redesigns Web Site

On November 15th, 2004, DFPS relaunched its web site as part of the HHSC transition. The new DFPS web site now uses the unified design that HHSC launched in September 2004. Send us your redesign feedback.

New Features

Font Sizer

Being able to increase font sizes has become increasingly important for visitors who are partially-sighted or have trouble reading content online. The font sizer uses cookies to remember your font setting from page-to-page and also for your next visit. Resizing fonts is part our overall accessibility strategy.

Print Version

You can now call up a print-friendly version of every web page. The Print Version works in tandem with the Font Sizer to create a new hybrid feature; visitors can determine the font sizes of their printed pages.

Link Icons

We created a new set of icons so that visitors can predetermine a link's destination before you click. Links generally lead to other web pages on the DFPS site unless otherwise noted by these icons:

	Same-page link. This link leads to content further down the same page.
	Off-site link. This link leads to a web page on another site, outside the DFPS family of web sites.
	Pop-up link. Clicking on this link will launch content in a new pop-up window.
	Adobe Acrobat document. This link will launch a PDF file either in Internet Explorer (using the Acrobat plug-in) or in a new Acrobat Reader window.
	MS Word document. This link will launch a DOC file either in Internet Explorer (using the Word plug-in) or in a new MS Word window.
	MS Excel document. This link will launch a XLS file either in Internet Explorer (using the Excel plug-in) or in a new MS Excel window.
	MS Word template. This link will launch a DOT file either in Internet Explorer (using the Word plug-in) or in a new MS Word window.

Quicker Quick Links

The audience chooser, formerly the center of the previous homepage, appears at the bottom of the new homepage. Instead of requiring visitors to click-through to see the content, the quick links are now instantly viewable by hovering the cursor over each audience label.

Expanded Site Map

The content in: 1) the audience chooser feature; and 2) the top navigation bar repeat in the Site Map area. Re-presenting the content in simple web pages makes this content accessible to sight-impaired visitors whose screen readers can't read special features like pop-up menus and dynamically created content.
