Walter
G. McCullough, P.E., is district engineer for the
San Angelo District of the
Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). The district comprises 15 counties:
Coke, Concho, Crockett, Edwards, Glasscock, Irion, Kimble, Menard, Reagan, Real,
Runnels, Schleicher, Sterling, Sutton and Tom Green. He became district engineer
in 1988.
After earning his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Texas Tech
University in Lubbock, McCullough joined TxDOT in 1971. Assigned to the Waco
District office as an engineering assistant in the design section in 1975, he
later worked in the McLennan County Area Office. While at the district, he
earned his master’s degree in business administration from Baylor University in
Waco in 1977.
McCullough transferred to the San Angelo District in 1978 as an area engineer
for Tom Green County. He also worked in the district laboratory and served as
construction engineer before becoming district engineer. McCullough led the
development of roadway projects in San Angelo leading to the planned completion
of U.S. 67, the Houston-Harte Expressway, as well as several major projects on
the routes of the Texas Trunk System.
McCullough grew up in Comanche. He and his wife Deborah, who is a science
teacher in Mertzon, have three children. |
