Motor Carrier Division

Important Notices:

Commercial motor carriers, including household goods movers and tow truck and commercial bus operators, doing business in Texas, are required to obtain operating credentials (registration). Customers have the convenient option of registering using online credentialing (MCCS).

Vehicles and loads that exceed legal size and weight limits are required to obtain an oversize/overweight permit. Customers can apply for and receive almost every type of permit through online permits (CPS).

In addition to these services, our Motor Carrier Division licenses vehicle storage facility operators and investigates consumer complaints against household goods movers, vehicle storage facilities and towing companies. The division also provides specialized information and referrals to consumers, the motor carrier industry, law enforcement and other public entities.
