The Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) was established in September 2004 as a result of House Bill 2292 (78th Texas Legislature). DADS contracts with many nonprofit and for-profit organizations to provide not only goods and services for the department itself, but also to deliver direct care services to DADS clients.

Contracting with DADS — This website includes information about business and contracting opportunities, a list of department contracts worth $100,000 or more, and information about the Historically Underutilized Business program.

Credentialing programs — This site includes information about Nursing Facility Administrator Licensing and Investigations (NFA), Nurse Aide Registry (NAR), Employee Misconduct Registry (EMR), Medication Aide (MA), and Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Programs (NATCEP).

Internal Audit — The DADS Internal Audit Department is dedicated to serving the people of Texas by ensuring the department operates in the most effective and efficient manner possible; accuracy of nursing home and community care cost reports for rate setting purposes; accuracy and completeness of provider billings; and compliance with contracts and assisting the department in achieving fiscal integrity.

Resources for DADS Service Providers —This website allows providers to click on the name of the program in which they provide services to find all their online resources including handbooks, forms, communications, and claims. In addition, organizations that are interested in becoming a DADS provider can find information about how to do so.
