Employment Opportunities

WELCOME TO THE Texas Attorney General's online Employment Opportunities page. This state agency employs approximately 3900 people in a wide variety of professional, clerical, and technical positions. Employees of the Attorney General's Office enjoy excellent benefits along with tremendous opportunities to do important work and make a positive difference in the lives of all Texans. You may wish to read about our mission and the detailed functions of our many divisions by visiting our Agency Divisions & Contacts page on this web site.

We look forward to receiving your electronic application, and we are happy to have the chance to better serve you by posting our job opportunities on the Internet.

Applications

Thank you for your interest in employment with the Office of the Attorney General (OAG). We would like to take this opportunity to explain our application and hiring procedures.

It is necessary to submit an electronic application through www.WorkInTexas.com for any position for which you want to be considered for employment. Your education and experience must match the minimum qualifications identified on the posting. All electronic applications for specific positions are screened for minimum qualifications by the 'Must Match' function in the WorkInTexas computer program. Only applications that meet all minimum qualifications will be considered by the hiring unit. Applicants for certain positions may be instructed in the job posting to send an electronic example of a writing sample to applicationdesk@oag.state.tx.us. An applicant will be contacted directly by the hiring division if selected for an interview. For some postings, interviewees will be required to bring proof of typing speed, certification or transcript information to the interview. Official job offers are extended only by the Human Resources Division. Interviewed applicants who are not selected will receive a letter directly from the interviewing office.

Before applying for a position, be sure to read How to Apply. There you will find all the information necessary to successfully complete an application for a job vacancy at the OAG.

To apply for a state agency job with the OAG, you must complete the electronic State of Texas Uniform Application for Employment through www.WorkInTexas.com. As of October 1, 2004, the OAG no longer accepts paper applications. Our application procedure is set up to process only electronic applications. Writing samples must be submitted by e-mail to applicationdesk@oag.state.tx.us. Transcripts, certificates and proof of typing speed may be submitted at the time of a scheduled interview.

For information only, the State of Texas Uniform Application for Employment can be downloaded from the Texas Workforce Commission in two formats: Word97, and Adobe Acrobat PDF. A Corel WordPerfect 9 version can be downloaded here.

Attorneys

Attorneys seeking a position with the OAG must also complete an electronic state application through www.WorkInTexas.com. During the application process on WorkInTexas, attorneys will be asked extensive Custom Questions that were previously asked on the paper Application for Employment as Assistant Attorney General. For comparative purposes only, this information is still available in the formats below.

Thank you again for your interest in employment with the Texas Attorney General's Office. We encourage you to apply for positions that match your qualifications. If you have any questions or concerns, please call or e-mail our Application Desk at (512) 475-4326 or applicationdesk@oag.state.tx.us.
