Map of Texas showing that in North Texas 16% of workers were fired/laid off (3.8% is the unemployment rate); in East Texas 35% were fired/laid off (6.7% is the unemployment rate); in Central Texas, 11% were fired/laid off (3.0% is the unemployment rate); in South Texas, 21% (7.3% is the unemployment rate); and in West Texas, 42% of injured workers were fired or laid off (8.0% is the unemployment rate).

Note: Unemployment rates for each region were calculated by taking the average unemployment rate for those metropolitan statistical areas that corresponded to Texas Workers' Compensation Commission field offices.
