Welcome to the UNT Department of Radio, Television and Film web site. The RTVF Department offers the Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts, Master of Science, and the Master of Fine Arts Degrees in radio, television and film.  The RTVF Department has been named one of the top programs in broadcast education by author Leonard Mogel in the book This Business of Television.  In addition to this national recognition, the RTVF Department is one of the leading programs in the State of Texas and across the Southwest Region.  An outstanding faculty, a great learning facility, and co-curricular activities via KNTU-FM and North Texas Television (NTTV) and the new Center for Spanish Language Media provide a wonderful setting for study and learning.

Our undergraduate degree program encompasses both creative skills-based training along with theoretical knowledge covering history, criticism, management, economics and policy, all built upon a strong liberal arts foundation, as well as several certificate programs. This educational experience prepares students for many different career opportunities in and around the electronic media and film industries, as well as preparation for advanced study.

MFA Program in Documentary Production

In addition to our long-standing MA/MS program in industry studies and film history/criticism, we now offer an MFA degree in documentary production and studies. This degree is appropriate for applicants who have been out of school for a time and want to upgrade their skills and/or prepare for a teaching career at the university level. It is also appropriate for applicants who desire to work in the non-fiction production industry.
