Insurance Department Cuts Title Rates by 3.2 Percent
The Texas Insurance Commissioner signed an order reducing Texas title insurance rates by 3.2 percent. The new rates take effect on February 1, 2007.

Indictments Handed Down for Widespread Mortgage Fraud
A Houston grand jury handed down indictments for a series of mortgage fraud scams in the Houston area, involving close to 300 properties valued at about $40 million. The indictments are the result of an investigation by the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and the Texas Department of Insurance Fraud Unit.
