LICENSING OF PREMIUM FINANCE COMPANIES

An "insurance premium finance company" means a person engaged in the business of making loans under the provisions of Chapter 651, Texas Insurance Code, by entering into premium finance agreements with insureds.

A person may not negotiate, transact, or engage in the business of premium financing in this state without first obtaining a license.

The requirements of the law and certain exemptions are found in the Texas Insurance Code, Chapter 651-Financing of Insurance Premiums.
