Web Accessibility Policy

TBPC is committed to making its web site accessible according to the standards set forth by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), including XHTML, CSS, and WCAG. To improve the accessibility of our web site, we test any major redesign with screen readers and other tools. We also use Vision Australia's Web Accessibility Toolbar, and the various tools included on it for site validation and accessibility testing, including W3C Markup Validation Service, W3c CSS Validation Service, and WebXACT, and it is our goal to achieve the highest level of accessibility attainable.

Web Accessibility Coordinator

TBPC has designated several staff members to serve as Web Accessibility Coordinators. They will monitor TBPC's compliance with this policy and train web publishers and developers how to make all web pages accessible. TBPC's Accessibility Coordinators may grant written requests for exceptions to this policy under appropriate circumstances. Exceptions and Accomodations

TBPC has thousands of individual web pages and most of them were created before this policy was enacted. When existing Web sites containing official information are updated and/or revised they will be brought into compliance with this policy, and all new sites containing official TBPC information must be accessibile.

TBPC welcomes comments on how to improve the site's accessibility for users with disabilities. If you use assistive technology and the format of any material on our Web site interferes with your ability to access the information, please contact TBPC's accessibility coordinator at accessibility at tbpc.state.tx.us. To enable us to respond in a manner most helpful to you, please indicate the nature of your accessibility problem, the preferred format in which to receive the material, the Web address of the requested material, and your contact information.
