The Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) Help Line (1-800-252-3439) is now open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday noon to 5 p.m. Central time

Immediate Disaster Assistance from the American Red Cross

If you have immediate emergency needs for food, clothing, shelter, or medical care, contact one of the local offices of the American Red Cross. You can visit a local Red Cross office, call the toll-free number at 1-866-438-4636, or browse the list of chapters and websites at www.redcross.org.

Disaster Recovery Centers / Insurance Assistance Centers

  • A Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) opens on Monday, August 21, at 7500 Viscount, Suite 292. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. MDT.
  • A mobile DRC will be at:
    • Vinton, 512 East Vinton Road (West Valley Fire Department) - August 27-30, and September 6-9
    • Socorro, 860 Rio Vista (City Hall) - August 31 and September 1
    • Horizon City, 13989 Veny Webb (OZ Glaze Senior Citizen Center) - September 2-3
    • Clint, 200 North San Elizaro (Community Center, Clint-San Elizaro) - September 4-5

Federal Government Help Lines and Other Assistance

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)

You may qualify for assistance from the federal government. You can apply by calling 800-621-FEMA (800-621-3362) or apply for assistance online at www.fema.gov. The information you will need includes:

  • The street address of your damaged property
  • Your current mailing address and a telephone number where you can be reached in the event you have been forced to relocate
  • Your Social Security Number
  • Your household´s approximate gross income at the time of the flood or, if you are reporting business damages, the gross income of the business
  • Information on the type of insurance coverage you have, particularly flood insurance

National Flood Insurance Program

If you have a flood insurance policy through the National Flood Insurance Program or one of their represented companies, you should contact your insurance agent or company´s claim office. If the company information is not known, please contact 800-427-4661 or visit www.floodsmart.gov.
