Windstorm Association Rate Decision Issued
An order signed May 26 allows the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA) to increase rates for residential homeowners’ wind coverage by 3.1 percent and commercial rates by 8 percent.  TWIA had asked for a 19 percent increase in residential rates and a 24 percent increase in commercial rates.

Teen Suspect Charged with Setting Wildland Fires in East Texas
An 18-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection with two arson fires in Bowie County. Randal Kight was questioned in connection with a series of wildland fires that have plagued the town of Maud, southwest of Texarkana. Another suspect, a juvenile, is also believed to have been involved.
