March 3, 17, 31, 2007Inks Lake SPStumpy Hollow Nature Hike — Take a guided nature hike through the trails of the park and hear about subjects as diverse as spring wildflowers, native cactus, bird-watching and edible plants. March 10, 2007Inks Lake SPHot Dog! It's the Second Saturday Bluegrass Show — Come enjoy a fun, family-friendly evening listening to toe tapping, finger snapping bluegrass music, while overlooking beautiful Inks Lake. Wayne Brooks and the Piney Grove Ramblers provide the music, and free hot dogs and ice tea are furnished (while they last) by the park food concessionaire. This show is always a hit with park visitors. Held near the park store and barbecue stand; bring a chair or share a blanket on the grass. 7:30-8:30 p.m. (512) 793-2223. March 10, 24, 2007Inks Lake SPHike the Hill Country — With over seven miles of maintained trails, the park has areas in the backcountry few people ever see. This hike explores much of this area; with overviews of the Llano Uplift, Inks Lake and a variety of plant and animal life. Hikes are five to six miles long. Good walking shoes, water and a hat are a must, as the hikes are somewhat strenuous. Children with adult supervision only. Meet at the parking lot across the park office. 1-4 p.m. (512) 793-2223. March 10, 17, 24, 31, 2007Inks Lake SPGo Fishing with a Ranger — After a brief safety and basic skills instruction, families will get a chance to go fishing with a park ranger. A limited amount of fishing equipment is provided, (including poles and bait) or you can bring your own. March 11, 2007Inks Lake SPBreakfast with the Birds — Which came first, the birds or the egg? The eggs, of course. Enjoy our locally made breakfast tacos and coffee, or a fruit and juice breakfast while taking a leisurely, guided electric boat trip to the best birding areas in the Hill Country. Binoculars and bird books furnished or bring your own; participants should dress for the weather and bring their own coffee cups. Children under 13 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Space is limited.
