Indian Paintbrush

Indian Paintbrush
Castilleja indivisa

Indian paintbrush, sometimes called Scarlet paint brush, is one of Texas' most beautiful flowers. They vary in color from orange, and scarlet to cream and yellow. There are several species of paintbrush.

Do you see often see paintbrush growing with other flowers? Many paintbrush are parasitic, which means that they rely on other plants to grow. These plants use the roots of other plants to help them grow. For this reason, it is hard to transplant some paintbrush plants.
