History: Bastrop State Park is 5,926 total acres; approximately 30 miles southeast of Austin in Bastrop County. It is the site of the famous "Lost Pines," an isolated timbered region of loblolly pine and hardwoods. The park was acquired by deeds from the city of Bastrop and private owners from 1933 to 1935; the park opened in 1937. Additional acreage was acquired in 1979. Original improvements at the park were made by the Civilian Conservation Corps.
Activities: The park provides opportunities for backpacking,
camping, picnicking, canoeing (park rents canoes), swimming (pool), golfing,
wildlife viewing, hiking, and interpretive
programs.

will find what you are looking for on Park Road 1C between Bastrop and Buescher
State
Parks. Enjoy
the 12 mile scenic ride through the Lost Pines of East Central Texas. This
roller coaster ride is part of the MS-150 (famed bike race from Houston to

Scenic Drives (Field Trips on Wheels) - Get in the car and go for a leisurely
drive along Park Road 1C between Bastrop and Buescher State Parks. This scenic
12-mile drive will take you through the beautiful Lost Pines of East Central
Texas. Turn down the radio and enjoy the serenity of the forest along this
quiet drive. Call the park for more information.
Fishing - Bring your pole and enjoy some good ol’ fishing along the banks
of Bastrop State Park Lake. If you can’t reach them from the bank,

Golf: A golf course, operated by the Lost Pines Golf Club, is one of the finest
and most scenic 18-hole golf courses in Central Texas. The course is 6152 yards
long, has Bermuda grass greens, is playable year-round, and has electric and

Area Attractions: Nearby attractions include Lake Bastrop, which offers 900 surface acres of water suitable for boating, fishing, swimming and water skiing. A pleasant 13-mile scenic drive through forest leads to Buescher State Park, another beautiful forested area. Other parks within a 50-mile radius include Lake Somerville State Park & Trailway, McKinney Falls State Park and Monument Hill/Kreische Brewery State Historic Sites. The nearby communities of Bastrop and Smithville boast many historic buildings and convenient locations for dining and shopping. The State Capitol at Austin is 32 miles away. You may want to refer to nearby Lower Colorado River Authority parks.
Facilities: include restrooms with showers; picnic sites; backpack areas along an 8.5-mile hiking trail; 3.5 additional miles of hiking trails; campsites with water; campsites with water and electricity; cabins; lodges; group barracks; and a dining hall (accommodates 90); a swimming pool; an outdoor sports area; a trail area; a day-use dining hall (refectory) with a kitchen area, tables and chairs for 90, a patio area, air-conditioning, and two fireplaces; and a sponsored youth group area. Special rates are available. The rustic cabins , which accommodate two to six people, overlook a small lake and each has air-conditioning, a microwave and kitchen facilities (linens and towels are furnished, but no utensils, dishes, or silverware).
Don't forget to visit the Texas State Park Store. The park has a large 60' X 100' freshwater swimming pool (equipped with two children's wading pools). Lifeguards are provided during pool hours. Special Conditions: (1) Any cabin or lodge reservation for either Friday or Saturday must include both nights. Hotel/motel tax is added to cabin rates. (2) All trails are restricted to foot traffic only; however, Park Road 1C provides a 13-mile scenic ride popular among cyclists. Absolutely no pets in the cabin area.

Flora/Fauna: The beautiful Lost Pines of Texas bring visitors back to the park year after year. The loblolly pine woodland is isolated from the main body of East Texas Pines by approximately 100 miles of rolling, post oak woodlands. This pine-oak woodland covers approximately seventy square miles and is part of most westerly stand of loblolly pines in the state. A quiet woodland and rugged hills make this park one of the most beautiful in Texas. Many species of wildlife such as white-tail deer, rabbits, squirrels, opossums and armadillos scurry through the woods. Directions: The park is one mile east of Bastrop on Texas 21, also accessible from the east on Texas 71 or by way of Buescher State Park along Park Road 1.
