Washington-on-the-Brazos SHS
March 3–4, 2007 — Washington-on-the-Brazos SHS — Texas Independence Day Celebration — Celebrate Texas' 171st birthday at the "Birthplace of Texas," Washington-on-the-Brazos. Demonstrators, re-enactors and period music come together to make history come alive. Visit Independence Hall where the Texas Declaration was adopted March 2, 1836 and learn about Texas' ten years as a sovereign nation at the Star of the Republic Museum. There will be something for everyone. 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; tour fees are waived during this special weekend. (936) 878-2214. May 5, 19, 2007 — Washington-on-the-Brazos SHS — Children's Fishing Derby — Children 6-12 experience the fun of fishing and learning about the outdoors.
