The park is host to over 300 species of birds that either live in or migrate through. Wear closed shoes, bring binoculars and insect repellant. April 7, 2007San Angelo SPDave Macey Gravesite - The Mystery Remains — Located above a Native American bison kill site and on top of Macey's Ridge lies the 1847 gravesite of David Macey. Who was he? Where did he come from? Why was he here? Park interpreter or volunteer will tell the story and leave the rest to your imagination. Meet at the South Shore Gatehouse. Featured Event April 11, 2007San Angelo SPSilver Bluebonnet Event — Senior citizens are invited to the park as guests of the Friends of San Angelo State Park. Seminars will be given by local enthusiasts on wildflowers, birds and the park's bison. Park trailer tours will also be provided.
