General Information

The TPWD web site has been redesigned. There is no longer a home page of over 120 links to choose from. The new site is organized by subject or topic. Links to any specific area may be found in multiple areas throughout the web site.

If you have trouble finding what you are looking for, try the following:

  1. Select from one of the main topics on the home page that relates to the subject you are looking for. If your subject is not listed on that topic page, try another one. The links to topic pages are listed on every page of the site.
  2. If the subject you are looking for is a heavily visited item, it may be listed in a number of other places such as
  3. If the subject you are looking for is available in print, try using the Publication link at the top of any page, or use the Search link.
  4. Try using our Search engine. You will find links to Search on every page (HELP: need info on how to insert keywords, search for specific areas like publications, FAQs, etc.)
  5. Contact Us: There is a link on every web page at the bottom to contact us with your comments or to ask questions. Please enter an e-mail address so that we can contact you. Your input is important to us.

Printing Information

Look for a Text Version or Print Friendly link in the upper left-hand corner of the page if you want the best printable version. This link will eliminate images and navigation boxes so that only the main content of the page is printed.

Accessibility/Validation/Web Standards

Read more about how we have used accessibility coding, validation and web standards to make our site more accessible to everyone, including users of assistive technology and hand-held devices.

Bookmarks

We have incorporated technology to redirect bookmarks to some of the most common areas of the web site; however, we encourage you to create new bookmarks when you find what you are looking for. If you have trouble, please use the Contact Us link at the bottom of any page and let us assist you by including an email address where you can be reached along with information about the topic you are searching for.

Breadcrumbs

Located directly below the header on each page, breadcrumbs are a navigation element (or navigation bar) consisting of links to give the user information about the site's structure or the path taken in order to retrace steps through the site. They are primarily intended to help users avoid becoming lost by indicating to them where they are in the website. A second purpose for breadcrumbs is to offer shortcut links for users to "jump" to previous categories in a sequence.

Software Downloads for scripts

The Software Downloads page offers links to free software needed to view some specific types of content on the TPWD website (PDFs, RAM, MP3, etc.) There is also information and links to assist you in upgrading your internet browser for the best possible user experience.

You will find links to the Software Downloads page on any page that includes links to different types of media such as PDFs and audio files. This page will help you to determine whether you have the software to access the media. You will also find information on downloading software you need.
