Celebrations
March 2, 2007 — Sebastopol House SHS — Toast To Texas — The celebration is to commemorate the signing of the Texas Declaration of Independence. Everyone is given a bottle of Texas spring water for the toast and is invited to stay for refreshments after the event, which includes patriotic music, delivery of the mayor's proclamation by the Guadalupe County Sheriff's Mounted Posse and other festivities. March 3, 2007 — Lake Texana SP — Texas Independence Day Programs — Start the day at the amphitheater learning about the local history of Texana (settled by part of Austin's colonists) at 10 a.m. followed by A Texas Craft at 2 p.m. A hike under the full moon from 7:30-8:30 p.m. ends the day's events. March 3–4, 2007 — Washington-on-the-Brazos SHS — Texas Independence Day Celebration — Celebrate Texas' 171st birthday at the "Birthplace of Texas," Washington-on-the-Brazos. Demonstrators, re-enactors and period music come together to make history come alive. Visit Independence Hall where the Texas Declaration was adopted March 2, 1836 and learn about Texas' ten years as a sovereign nation at the Star of the Republic Museum. April 14, 2007 — Brazos Bend SP — Earth Day Celebration — A full day of family fun all aimed at educating you on what we can do to protect the Earth. We will have exhibits, hand-on activities, rock climbing wall and demonstrations from local, state and national conservation and environmental groups. April 21, 2007 — Colorado Bend SP — Earth Day Celebration — Bring a friend and a picnic lunch and enjoy the beauty of this unique area of the Texas Hill Country. Take a self-guided 1-1/2-mile scenic, round trip tour to spectacular Gorman Falls, a 65-foot waterfall in a beautiful Hill Country setting. See Gorman Cave in a walking wild cave tour. Hike along the Pat Copeland Trail to Gorman Springs, a beautiful area of the park open to the public only twice a year, on this self-guided tour. May 5, 2007 — Fulton Mansion SHS — May Day — Bring the family for a fun-filled day of springtime activities. Dance around the maypole, play period games, enjoy old-fashioned pie-eating contests and create beautiful flower crafts. Live music, a petting zoo and a box lunch auction are sure to entertain.
