February 10–11, 2007 — Battleship Texas SHS — Remember the Maine — This memorial event pays tribute to the Americans who fought in the Spanish American War, and to the first U.S. Navy ship to bear the name TEXAS, which played a crucial role in the American Naval victory in Cuba. Historical interpreters will stage small arms demonstrations, from flintlocks to machineguns and you can visit encampments depicting the various eras of our nation's military history. Friday will be dedicated to all school groups to participate and meet the presenters. Saturday will be open to all visitors to meet and interact with the live-action, historical displays and their characters.
