Frequently Asked Questions about Secure Server E-mail Reservations

Why is this site secure?

We are using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) 128bit encryption from Verisign to encrypt the data on our secure server.. Using encryption your credit card information will be kept secure from the public Internet.

Most people in the U.S. use the export versions of the leading Netscape and Microsoft Internet Explorer Web browsers, which enable the encryption of data in 40-bit Secure Socket Layer (SSL) sessions with sites that have a VeriSign's Secure Site ID installed. When exchanging information with the domestic versions of browsers, VeriSign Secure Server IDs encrypt data in 128-bit sessions, which are trillions of times stronger than 40-bit sessions. However, you must have a browser that is capable of handling SSL encryption.

Browser Requirements for using TPWD's Secure Server Site.

Netscape Navigator 4.0 or later
Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or later
If you wish to download a 4.0+ browser, you may do so at:
Microsoft Internet Explorer
Netscape

What if I don't have a browser that supports SSL?
You will not be able to use this secure reservations request e-mail form. We apologize if this impacts you and ask you to use the non-secure web reservations with no inclusion of your credit card number or call our reservations center at 512-389-8900. Click here for more options.

OK, what if I send in the form? How secure is my credit card number at that point?
The same customer representatives that take your credit card number over the phone receive the web form with all your information. They will process your request and send you confirmation e-mail. Validation of your credit card number occurs over private lines.

My browser just hangs, I never get to the form.
Check your browser version. (In your browser, go to the file menu and click: HELP - ABOUT.) Your browser probably doesn't support SSL. You can also use our Browser Version check.

If you are unsure which browser version you are using, click the button and you will be directed to the E-Mail Reservation Form supported by your browser.

I get the error "An error occurred in the secure channel support." What is wrong?
Your browser has SSL turned off. Check your preferences or Internet options in your browser menu and turn SSL on. For details please contact the maker of your browser software.
