A Brief Overview...

The State Office of Risk Management (SORM) was created by the 75th Texas Legislature in 1997 to provide risk management services to state agencies and to administer workers’ compensation claims for state employees.

Our Agency Division page on this site will provide you with an opportunity to learn more about the functions of SORM. Our Mission and Philosophy page and Compact with Texans page will provide you with an overview of our dedication to the needs of state agencies and their employees in the areas of risk management and workers' compensation.

Applications...

SORM is administratively attached to the Office of the Attorney General (OAG). Although we are a separate agency, many of our administrative duties are outsourced to the OAG. All applications are routed through the OAG's Human Resources Division located at 300 W. 15th street in Austin, Texas, www.OAG.State.TX.US.

It is necessary to submit an electronic application through www.WorkInTexas.com for any position for which you want to be considered for employment.

Effective October 1, 2004, paper applications will not be accepted. SORM's application process is completely automated and we are unable to process paper applications. Computers are available in the OAG's Human Resources Division for applicants to access www.WorkInTexas.com to register and to complete electronic applications. Local Texas Workforce Commission offices also have computers available for public use.

Your education and experience must match the minimum qualifications identified on the posting. All electronic applications for specific positions are screened for minimum qualifications by the 'Must Match' function and the Custom Questions in the WorkInTexas computer program. Only applications that meet all minimum qualifications will be considered by the hiring unit.

Applicants for certain positions may be instructed in the job posting to e-mail an electronic example of a writing sample to applicationdesk@oag.state.tx.us. An applicant will be contacted directly by the hiring division if selected for an interview. For some postings, interviewees will be required to bring proof of typing speed, certification or transcript information to the interview. Official job offers are extended only by the Human Resources Division. Interviewed applicants who are not selected will receive a letter directly from the interviewing office. Specific instructions on how to complete your electronic application or your e-mail format can be found under in any one of these documents:
