Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation

Electrician Licensing

The Texas Commission on Licensing and Regulation on May 3 unanimously voted to appoint an Austin electrician to a position on the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation’s (TDLR) Electrical Safety and Licensing Advisory Board.

David Adamson, of Austin, was appointed to fill a seat designated for a journeyman electrician. He will serve a term that expires February 1, 2011.

The board provides technical support and advice to the Commission on matters related to the licensing of electricians, including experience and educational requirements, adoption of continuing education requirements, and permissible scope of work. The Board also advises the Commission on adoption of applicable electrical codes

Appointments to the board are made by Commission Chair Gina Parker of Waco with the approval of the Commission.

The only exam currently accepted by the Department is that from ICC/SBCCI. Please be aware that only those exams passed within the two years prior to filing the electrician application will satisfy the examination requirement. More information can be found on the ICC/SBCCI Texas exam information website.
