Homeless Elderly Are Everyone’s Business!

APS Launches Final Stage of Public Awareness Campaign

APS caseworker Reba Nesmith and client John HallWhen John Hall was in his 20s, he left his native Scotland for a life in America. He got married, settled in New Brunswick, NJ, had children, and like many in the 1950s he was trying his best to live out the American dream.

On a cold, February 2006 morning in Corpus Christi, TX, John Hall was just about at the end of his rope. At age 74, he had long been divorced, lost touch with his children, and been living on the streets since 1988. Now, Hall had sprained an ankle and was lying in a field because he was unable to move. He remained in the field for four days until other homeless people spotted him and contacted the police.
