HATTIESBURG, MS. -- The North Texas women's basketball team committed 22 turnovers in a 70-48 loss at Southern Miss Saturday afternoon.

North Texas (11-16, 8-8 C-USA) struggled to run its offense on the Golden Eagles' (20-9, 12-5 C-USA) pressure defense while Southern Miss made 48 percent of its shots to win its sixth game in a row.

Southern Miss held North Texas to nine first quarter points while they scored 15. The Mean Green could never recover after that point, finishing the game making 16 of its 49 shot attempts and four of its 20 3-point attempts.

Three of the four 3-pointers made by North Texas were from senior Candice Adams, which gives her 54 on the season -- the seventh most made in a single season in program history. That also gives her 103 made 3-pointers in the last two seasons combined, which is now the most 3-pointers made in consecutive seasons by a Mean Green women's basketball player.

North Texas' leading scorer this season, Terriell Bradley, was held to two points Saturday afternoon and made no field goals. It was the first time since the first game of the year that she was unable to score from the field.

Bradley was not in the starting lineup for just the second time this season. Freshman Madi Townley made the start in her replace. It was her second start of the year. She scored a season-high eight points while also grabbing eight rebounds.

Fellow freshman Adrianna Henderson played a season-high 20 minutes and showed sparks on both ends of the court with steals and dishing out assists. She tied her season-high with four assists Saturday afternoon.

Saturday was North Texas' final true road game of the season. Their five road wins this year are the most since the 2012-13 season.
