Company Overview
Celebrating 35 years on the air, ntTV - North Texas Television has been helping the Denton Community and students of the University of North Texas by providing ...interesting and informative content, as well as training students with hands on opportunities at real world situations. ntTV is available throughout Denton County, Texas on Charter Communications channel 22 and Verizon Fios channel 46 and is the official television station of the University of North Texas.
ntTV began broadcasting in the fall of 1980 as a video message board and launched as a full cable television channel in 1986. ntTV became a student organization and adopted the North Texas Television name in 1989. Over the past 35 years, ntTV has grown to become one of the top student-run cable television stations in the United States, winning numerous awards from major industry organizations, including the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, the Society of Professional Journalists, the Broadcast Education Association, and the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association. ntTV has also grown to become a staple of the Radio Television and Film department at the University of North Texas.
ntTV prides itself on providing a powerful and enriching learning experience to students interested in television production, while serving as a bridge between the University of North Texas and the Denton community. Every semester, ntTV airs 10-15 student produced shows, totalling over 100 hours of content, including our signature Nightly News broadcast and numerous live sports productions. None of it would be possible without a ever helpful student executive staff, ready and driven volunteer force, and practicum students.
In 2010, ntTV won its 7th Lone Star Emmy Award, winning two awards at the October 16th ceremony. ntTV won awards for our January 2010 election coverage "The Republican Faceoff!" and for "Backpack Journalist", a news feature piece that aired on our nightly news broadcast ntTV Nightly News! ntTV has won Lone Star Emmy Awards every year since 2005.
