Mean Green Fall 7-0 To No. 40 Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. (3/5/10) - North Texas Tennis fell to No. 40 Tulsa Friday afternoon, 7-0, at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Tulsa.

The Golden Hurricane (10-5) took control over the Mean Green (5-4) from the start taking the doubles point with taking all three doubles matches.

"Tulsa was better than us today," said head coach Sujay Lama. "We will learn from the match and get ready to face Kansas State tomorrow."

Senior Catalina Cruz and Barbora Vykydalova dropped a hard fought match to the 58th ranked duo of Erofeeva and Szatkowska 8-6.

Cruz went on to take the first set of her singles match against Rebecca Row 6-0, before falling in the final two sets 6-0, 6-1.

In her first match since January, junior Narine Kazarova jumped out to an early lead in her singles match in the No. 6 slot with Michelle Farley, taking the first set 6-4, before dropping the second 6-3 and the tiebreaker 10-1.

Junior Madura Ranganathan fell in her second match of the season in the No. 1 spot to nationally ranked Alexandra Kichoutkin 6-3, 6-2.

North Texas will take to the court tomorrow afternoon when the square off with Big 12 member Kansas State at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
