Burmeister was added as a quality control coach on the defensive side of the ball on March 1, 2019.
Prior to that appointment, Burmeister served as a graduate assistant for three seasons and interned on the Mean Green staff in 2015. The Milwaukee, Wisconsin, native worked with defensive backs in 2015 and has been with the North Texas linebackers from 2016-18.
Linebacker E.J. Ejiya was a first-team all-Conference USA performer in 2018, posting 121 tackles, 25.0 tackles for loss, 9.0 sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Ejiya was also an all-conference honorable mention in 2017. Brandon Garner earned all-conference honorable mention status in 2018, as did Joshua Wheeler in 2016. Joe Ozougwu also earned all-freshman recognition in 2017.
Burmeister played defensive back at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point from 2011-14.
Burmeister is married to the former Cassidy Alles.
