Bradley Goes Off Again In OT Win Over Lady Bears

DENTON – Terriell Bradley continued her offensive dominance for North Texas with 36 points, and Anisha George recorded a double-double of 12 points and a game-high 12 rebounds as the Mean Green outlasted Missouri State in overtime with an 83-76 win Saturday inside The Super Pit.

Bradley now has three consecutive games of scoring at least 30 points as she recorded a career-high 40 versus North Dakota State Nov. 24 and dropped 30 on SMU Wednesday. Bradley connected of 12 of her 21 attempts against Missouri State, including a trio of 3-pointers, and sank nine from the free throw line.

Grace Goodhart scored a season-high 12 points, and Callie Owens added 10. The Mean Green (3-4, 0-0 C-USA) sealed the victory from the free throw line by shooting over 86-percent (19-of-22) overall, including 11-of-12 in the extra period. Coming into the contest, UNT was averaging 57.8-percent.

"We had some quality possessions and got some big time free throws," Head Coach Jalie Mitchell said. "I'm really proud of them; it wasn't always pretty. What I love is that we showed growth from Wednesday night, and everybody was a part of that effort and being better in some key areas."

With the Mean Green trailing 70-68 with less than a minute to play in regulation, Bradley fed George with a bounce pass in the lane to tie things up. The Lady Bears (1-4, 0-0 MVC) missed a 3-pointer with 29 seconds on the clock but secured the ball for a chance for the win. A layup attempt was overshot and the buzzer sounded to send the teams into overtime.

The lone field goal in the final five minutes was obtained by George in the opening 30 seconds on a layup. Missouri State hit one-of-two from the line at the 3:18 mark for a one-point contest before Owens drained a pair from the line for a 74-71 advantage. George stretched the margin to six on two freebies, and the Lady Bears made one to pull within five with 53 seconds remaining. Owens hit two more, as did Brittany Smith, to stretch the lead to 81-72 with 30 seconds to play. Missouri State came within five with 20 seconds to go, but two from the line by Bradley clinched the North Texas win.

"This game proved that it was crunch time and we performed," George said.

In the opening period, the Mean Green trailed 12-10 at the 3:43 mark before Bradley sank a three, and Charlene Shepherd scored in the paint for a three-point advantage. Goodhart connected on a jumper and a 3-pointer in the 10thminute for a 20-14 UNT lead.

The Lady Bears began the second quarter with four straight field goals to take a 22-20 lead until Shepherd made a jumper, and Bradley converted in traffic to hand UNT the lead back. Owens dropped in a three for the final basket of the half for a 32-27 advantage.

Bradley sank a 15-foot jumper three minutes into the third as the Mean Green led 36-30, but the Lady Bears made a layup and a three to slice the deficit to a point with 4:03 on the clock.
A Bradley layup along with an and-one again pushed the lead to six, and Goodhart banked in a runner for a 51-46 advantage seconds before end of the quarter.
